w****1 发帖数: 4931 | 1 from what I've read on forums, some amateur ironman triathletes who have sub 3 marathon PRs did their
ironman marathon in 4-5 hours.:)
for those not trained specifically on cycling, 112 miles at 20+ mph is harder than a marathon. Certainly in my
experience, 56 miles through rolling hills avg 20mph was much harder than HM in 1:35.

average finishing time. An ironman triathlete would dig into their body much
much further than a tennis player ever would. If a tennis player were as

w****1 发帖数: 4931 | 29 Surely most endurance athletes need strength training, and especially
triathletes. But does this guy bench
press 200lb? I doubt. I bet he never uses dumbbells heavier than 30 lb. I'll
be surprised if you tell me he uses
heavier weights. There is a qualitative difference between weight training
for muscle building, and weight
training for endurance sports. It's the difference between bench pressing
300 lb for a few reps and doing 500
push-ups. |

w****1 发帖数: 4931 | 30 That's what I've been doing all this year. I was pretty hooked to cycling
last fall, but have stopped doing it
altogether this year, mainly because I needed to focus on my goals in
running and that I didn't have the time
for bikes with such high mileage running.
Even Lance Armstrong said that cycling didn't help with his marathon performance. (For those who didn't
know, Lance has been a triathlete for most of his life.) I wonder how fast Contador could run a marathon. |

NEW YORK -- The Chilean miner who jogged in the tunnels while trapped

to run it.
Marathon officials had invited Edison Pena to watch the race after hearing
his story when the miners were rescued last month. They thought he could
ride in the lead vehicle or hold the finish line tape, but never expected
the Chilean consulate to tell them Pena wanted to run....

1498 | 35 Yes, protein intake is absolutely important for long distance tris.
Theoretically, you are supposed to intake protein for anything longer than 2
hours, but most people don't bother because the effect is not prominent.
The problem is that the digestion system can't absorb as many calories from
sugar as the body consumes them. So when there is a deficiency, the body
turns to other sources for energy -- fat and protein. The body can only
burn fat so fast, and when the fat burning is not enough,...

Fun Winter Run Workouts

Canadian triathletes shouldn't let cold, snow or ice stop them from keeping up their running fitness in the winter. Even if there's a howling wind and poor footing, some outdoor speed sessions will keep that zip in your legs. Without pressure to hit certain splits on the track or worry about pace, you can concentrate purely on effo...

9604 | 37 Besides being slow, b-stroke also tires your legs and hurts your knees. I
think it's part of the reason that I injured my left knee in the Ironman AZ
race.
Also, wetsuits are designed for freestyle and not very b-stroke friendly.
Third, you'll be HATED by other triathletes if you do b-stroke!!
Even if your swimming is in better shape comapred to bike and run, I think
you should still practice freestyle. You have enough time, and it will
eventually pay off.

I think it's remarkably similar to F.I.R.S.T. if you swap the easy/recovery
runs with triathlete's cross trainings. FIRST only has two 20-miles long
runs. But the pace the two plans require for speed, tempo & long runs are
very similar. They are all so-called "quality" runs.
I googled and found Hansons' Less-Is-More Marathon Plan someone posted on
