如果持H1B的自己用私人时间在业内杂志发表research paper/proposal, 要拿稿费/酬
劳，是不是非要申请EAD卡，才能领钱，这样算不算使用了EAD卡呢，会影响H1B的身份

they will ask for your SSN so they can send you a 1099-misc

发帖数: 741 | 3 you did not answer OP's question. your answer is more procedural of employment types than legality of work eligibility (which was OP's Q).
1099 definitely requires work authorization. most places do not ask for
paperwork for 1099 contractors (under a threshold amount), does not mean work authorization is not required.
