10. “I have sworn to David my servant, I will establish your seed forever,
and build up your throne for all generations.” - Psalms 89:3-4
“David shall never want a man to sit upon the throne of the house of Israel
.” - Jeremiah 33:17
According to the speaker of this prophecy (God), a descendant of
David will always be on the throne of Israel. This is obviously not the case
however, as David’s line ended 21 generations later with Zedekiah. No king
returned to David’s throne for the next 450 years, and no king of David’s
line has occupied any throne anywhere for the last couple thousand years or
so. D’oh!
9. “Put on your beautiful garments, O Jerusalem, the holy city: from now on
no one shall enter you who is uncircumcised or unclean.” - Isaiah 52:1
This failure is pretty self-explanatory, as Jerusalem has been
plenty filled with uncircumcised people from the moment this prophecy was
uttered ‘til the moment you just read this on the internet.
8. “Zebulon shall dwell at the shore of the sea; he shall become a haven
for ships, and his borders shall be at Sidon.” - Genesis 49:13
This prophecy was made by Joseph as he lay dying in Egypt. In fact,
the borders of Zebulon never extended to the sea, and never reached to the
city of Sidon. Amusingly, one Christian apologist (John F. Walvoord)
acknowledged this problem, and had this to say about it in his book Every
Prophecy in the Bible: “Though Zebulon would not actually be bordered on
the sea, it would be near enough so that they would benefit from seaborne
trade.”
Basically, Walvoord freely admits that the prophecy failed, but then
goes ahead and chalks it up in the Win column anyway. This is kinda like
predicting that my kid will one day live in New York City, but when they
never get closer than Philadelphia, stating, “Well, they got close enough
to pick up a couple New York radio stations, so same difference.” What a
riot!
7. “Babylon…shall be as when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah. It shall
never be inhabited, neither shall it be dwelt in from generation to
generation: neither shall the Arabian pitch tent there; neither shall the
shepherds make a fold there. But wild beasts of the desert shall lie there;
…and satyrs shall dance there…and her time is near to come, and her days
shall not be prolonged.” - Isaiah 13:19-22, Jeremiah 50:39-40,
Obviously there has never been a time since Isaiah that Babylon (
modern Iraq) was uninhabited. People lived there during New Testament times
according to Matthew 1:11-12, 17, Acts 7:43, and I Peter 5:13; and it is
still inhabited today. Arabians still visit there, shepherds still make
their folds there, and Iraq has never been known for its dancing satyrs.
6. “Hear the word of the Lord, O Zedekiah king of Judah: Thus saith the
Lord of thee, You shall not die by the sword but you shall die in peace.”
- Jeremiah 34:4-5
Rather than dying in peace, as Jeremiah predicted, King Zedekiah was
captured in battle, forced to watch all of his remaining sons put death
before his eyes – which were subsequently gouged out – then hauled off to
rot his remaining moments away in a dungeon.
5. “And I will make you [Tyre] like the top of a rock: you shall be a place
to spread nets on, and shall be built no more: for I the Lord have spoken
it, saith the Lord God.” - Ezekiel 26:14
“I will make you a terror, and you shall be no more: though you will be
sought, you shall never be found again, saith the Lord God.” - Ezekiel 26
:21
Here, God has declared through the “prophet” Ezekiel that the city
of Tyre shall be completely destroyed and never rebuilt. But though it was
attacked and laid siege to multiple times, Mark 3:8, 7:24, Acts 12:20, 21:3,
7, and Matthew 15:21 make it obvious that Tyre was never destroyed
completely, and that it continued to be an historical setting which was
occasionally visited throughout the New Testament. Moreover, it still exists
today as a city off the coast of Lebanon.
4. On that day the LORD made a covenant with Abram and said, "To your
descendants I give this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river,
the Euphrates.” - Genesis 15:18
Though Israel’s western border never got anywhere close to the Nile
river, that was still a helluva lot closer than it ever got to the Euphrates
to the east.
3. “In that day there will be a highway from Egypt to Assyria. The
Assyrians will go to Egypt and the Egyptians to Assyria. The Egyptians and
Assyrians will worship together. In that day Israel will be the third, along
with Egypt and Assyria, a blessing on the earth.” - Isaiah 19:23,24
This is yet another one that never happened, and seems rather
unlikely to ever occur in the future, as Assyria vanished from the earth
around 600 B.C.E.
2. “Be not afraid, but speak, and hold thy peace: For I am with you, and no
man shall set on you to hurt you.” - Acts 18:9-10
This one is puzzling, as is God speaking to Paul, declaring that no
one will attempt to hurt him. However, Paul later admits in 2 Corinthians 11
:23-25 that he was actually whipped close to death 5 separate times, beaten
on 3 occasions, and stoned once, officially making God the lousiest
bodyguard in he history of forever.
1. “I tell you the truth, some who are standing here will not taste death
before they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom." - Matthew 16:28
"You snakes! You brood of vipers! How will you escape being condemned to
hell? Therefore I am sending you prophets and wise men and teachers. Some of
them you will kill and crucify; others you will flog in your synagogues and
pursue from town to town. And so upon you will come all the righteous blood
that has been shed on earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood
of Zechariah son of Berekiah, whom you murdered between the temple and the
altar. I tell you the truth, all this will come upon this generation." -
Matthew 25:33-36
“And he said to them, "I tell you the truth, some who are standing here
will not taste death before they see the kingdom of God come with power."
- Mark 9:1
"I tell you the truth, this generationwill certainly not pass away until all
these things have happened.” Luke 21:32
Several different passages, all the same idea: Jesus describes the
End Times to his audience, and then declares that some of them standing
there will personally live to see that and his glorious Second Coming. Epic
Fail!

1. It is obvious that the passage in question was intended as a prophecy
2. The prophecy was recorded before the event claimed to provide the
fulfillment
3. The prophecy was not self-fulfilling or intentionally fulfilled by
someone with knowledge of it
4. It was not simply an educated guess or prediction
5. It is explicitly clear in what it is predicting for the future, and the
