least 4 days at sea and 4 or more days in ports for you to get off the boat.
they are generally longer (>9 days), more expensive, and have very limited
choice in regards to date of travel.
If you have your heart set on New York port, Bermuda and Bahamas are better
choices than Caribbean if you don't want to spend too much time on the boat,
even though I personally think Bermuda is kind of boring.
If you want to do Caribbean, especially western caribbean, go to
cruiseoutlet.com and search for yourself. there are many US departure cities
to choose from. Just a reminder, some ports, like Galveston TX, are so far
away from airport that you easily spend $400 for a family of 3 just to get
to the boat and return back to airport, and the driving over there is very
long too.
we did western caribbean this summer and started from New Orleans. We got to
spend a few days in the city just to kill time, and the driving from the
airport to the ship is only 20 min. |
