sponsored event, it is a great way to express your concerns as a parent
about the future of education in Texas to the State Legislature. For more
info, go to the website: savetxschools.orgSave Texas Schools March & Rally:
March 12When: Saturday, March 12, 2011
Where: State Capitol in Austin, TX
Why: To send a message to our state government to put education first! From
another Parent:
Fellow Parents -
As most of you know the all school districts are having to make huge budget
cuts due to the states inability to fund education. Yesterday Governor Rick
Perry said the following:
On Wednesday, the governor said, "Over the course of the last decade, we've
seen extraordinary amount of nonclassroom employees added to school rolls.
Are administrators and school boards going to make the decision to reduce
those ... or are they going to make the decision to reduce the number of
teachers in the classroom?"
The different perspective is coming from the Texas Education Agency, which
said the the ratio of teachers to nonteachers at school districts across the
state has changed less than 1 percentage point in the last decade.
It is evident from Governor Perry's remarks that the he has no intention of
using the rainy day fund to help district bridge the huge budget gaps.
Round Rock Independent School District (RRISD) is going to use $40 million
of their "rainy day" fund so shouldn't the state use some of theirs?
RRISD Super indent Dr. Chavez will be on KXAN tonight taking about what the
districts are going to do and what challenges they face, please watch if you
can.
There are two things you to make a difference:
1. Attend the Save our Schools Rally Saturday March 12 at the Capital
Save Texas Schools demonstration, March 12. Pre-rally march begins at 11am
at 12th & Trinity; rally begins at noon at the Texas state Capitol, 1100
Congress. See www.savetxschools.org.
2. Call Governor Rick Perry's office and say the following: I am a tax
payer, parent, grandparent, aunt, uncles (you get the jist) and I urge the
Governor to tap into the rainy day fund. Our children's education is the
most important tool Texas will have in the coming decades!!
In Austin: 463-1782 Option 1 is a recording: Option 2 is a representative
(once I got the person on the line, I read the message and said thank you.
Just image how many phone calls they would get if everyone on this list
just called and asked two friends to call).
Outside Austin: 800-252-9600
Dr. Chavez is doing everything he can, so let's pick up the phone and call
Governor Perry.

It would be alot more difficult to get into top 10% and more difficult to
get reference letters and attention from the teachers. I don't recall see a
Chinese high school of this size.
