第14届夏季奥林匹克运动会
the summer olympic games of 1948
第十四届奥林匹克运动会于1948年7月29日至8月14日在英国伦敦
举行。本届奥运会是因第二次世界大战而中断十二年后举行的第一次
奥运会。英国伦敦曾被定为第十三届奥运会会址，因当时战争尚在进
行而停办。1945年10月伦敦向奥委会提出申请，所以第十四届奥运会
，伦敦再次成为东道主。
二战后的伦敦再也不是举办第4届奥运会时的那个繁荣的城市了
，战争留下的创伤到处可见，经济萧条、各行各业百废待兴，英国不
少人反对在当时人们生活困难的情况下承办奥运会。为此，英国奥委
会做了大量的宜传工作，在资金短缺的情况下，建成了奥运村，修缮
了一些体育场馆，使运动会按时举行了。
本届奥运会是伦敦第二次主办的奥运会，又是二次大战后的首届
奥运会，是奥林匹克运动的新起点。虽然由于战争，各国的体育运动
受到影响，一些有才华的选手年岁已大，而且年轻运动员又未经过系
统的训练，总体水平不高，但人们在长期的战争中，饱尝了家园被毁
、
亲人死去的痛苦之后，在奥运会上又领略了和平和友谊的幸福。
而且二战后，不少国家摆脱了殖民统治
