第2届夏季奥林匹克运动会
the summer olympic games of 1900
第二届奥林匹克运动会于1900年5月20日至10月28日在法国巴黎
举行。
1894年的巴黎国际体育会议上，决定第一届奥运会在希腊雅典举
行的同时，还通过了在巴黎召开第二届奥运会的决议。但是，雅典奥
运会胜利举行后，希腊人对奥运会表现出极大的热情，竭力想推翻第
二届会址设在巴黎的决议。希腊的一些有影响的人士认为：奥运会是
希腊民族文化的一部分，它只能在希腊举行，雅典应成为奥运会的固
定地址，如果异地他国召开，则是对伟大的、光辉灿烂的希腊文化的
公开掠夺。在第一届奥定会闭幕时，希腊国王亲自出面，要求雅典成
为奥运会的永久地址。希腊人的要求引起了激烈的争执，当时已接替
维凯拉斯任国际奥委会主席的顾拜旦在这个问题上坚持不让。他认为
：奥林匹克是希腊的，也是全世界的，奥运会必须在不同国家举行，
才能使之具有国际性和富有生命力。这个主张得到绝大多数国家的支
持，第二届奥运会决定在原定的地点举行，巴黎赢得了第二届奥运会
的举办权。
巴黎是世界名城，法国的首都，也是法国最大的工商业城市，横
跨塞纳河，水陆交通
