现在的保险是kaiser的（北加州湾区），听说kaiser生孩子水平不行。google了一下，
就几个相关的帖子，说好的不好的各半。犹豫要不要换保险公司，换的话要多出不少保
费和住院co-pay。
版上有在kaiser生过孩子的吗？能给点建议吗？谢谢！ |

care option for the poor, the students, the under privileged, and government
welfare takers. Kaiser hires doctors most other networks will not hire so a
lot
of them are foreigners from Indian and other third world countries, etc. It
take a long time to get an appointment. Kaiser does not perform complicated
surgeries, nor complicated tests. They contract those tests and surgeries
out. It costs lots of money to contract out so they try not to order them or
delay them hoping you would just go away and switch out to other systems.
Kaiser does attract excellent
nurses as they allow nurses to unionize.
Pay slightly more (like $50/month) and get Blue Shields of CA, Blue Cross,
Health Net, or Western Health Advantage, etc. so you can get into one of the
more reputable health systems in the State like the UC LA system, Stanford
health system, UCSF health system, UC Davis medical system, Sutter health
system, Hills Physicians Groups, etc. Within these systems, there is little
wait time to see your primary physician, who refer you to specialists within
their network. You pay $50 if you self refer to specialist outside their
networks.
Almost all the above insurance networks cover 100% cost for child birth and
well baby pediatrician visits up to age 6, I guess. There is no copay.
Read the literature from each insurance policy and choose a good health
system. You are in a great country with an world class, advanced health
care systems. You just need to pay slightly more to make them available to
you and your families. Do not settle for third world country health services
.

我儿子就是在Kaiser生的，医生技术和态度都很好，护士也大都不错，我们全家都很满
意。整个过程一分钱没出还连吃带拿。

they hayward hospital is a bit old though. They are building a new one in

首先谢谢你这么详细的回复，但是似乎不止$50那么点吧。我查了一下，转到blue
shield HMO 光保费就一个月多交300+，再加上住院$1500手术$400，这一年下来就是多
出$5700。不少的一笔钱，不然就不纠结了。

几个月来的感觉还是不错的。不过LP还没生，所以没有完整的经验 :)
上面英文回的那位说的有些过了。
以前听朋友说过一些好的跟不好的地方。我们还没觉得有什么坏的地方。
预约时间长确实是有点。不过生娃的预约大部分是提前很久就按日子
订好的，所以没啥问题。
有一个朋友曾说过在Kaiser C-section只给住院3天就赶走了，不知道
是否是真的。我们是准备顺产。

Ask around: when you need a good doctor, where do your educated neighbors
and colleagues go? Staford/UCSF or Kaiser?

不大
我从来都是基本当天或者第二天能拿到appointment，之前号称保险好的时候PPO，两个
礼拜才能拿个预约
你说医生不好，Santa Clara给小孩做疝气手术的医生就是在Stanford和Kaiser工作的
，本地就她做得最好了
Kaiser的医生pay不高是真的，但是我看过我的医生的credential，真的不比之前的差

生最好
大部分情况下，你真的不需要一个世界级的医生

Santa Clara 医院新，漂亮，kaiser 病人都往这边跑，排长队是大问题。医院不想
transfer 病人（看人多拿钱多），
只好赶人。顺产目标一天半，剖的两天半。以后会更恶劣的。
而且Santa Clara 主要是resident, 其他很多medical center 都不是的。
去San Jose kaiser medical center 吧，因为医院破旧，病人量很少，你去了会被当
成太上皇的，吼吼。
所以说啥事都不能只看外表哈.

Medical Center会不会设备不齐全，最后检查手术什么的还是在别的hospital里做啊？
