than 6 months you can just call in and have the unlock the sim card slot
for you for free. But you can only use it overseas.

verizon to unlock, verizon will find out that your iphone was just used on
their network, which will deny your request. in addition you will need to
have your chinese sim card with you when you call so they can activate the unlock.
If not, then you will have to wait until you go back to verify and you need to
connect your iphone over wifi or on computer with itunes, its pain in the butt.
