good you are.
20-30w probabaly for those top guys, for regular fresh (0-2 ex) phds, that
is definitely way too high

goog is higher in number. msft/amzn may be lower but wa has no income tax and much lower living cost.

goog also does 50% 401k match up to annual limit, which is 16.5k in 2011.
for top cand's, it should be higher.
there are also msft/amzn data reported in jobhunting.
high tech companies are also more generous in h1b/gc sponsorship and usually have no non-compete.
for a comparable street job, these must also be considered.

anyway, 20k doesn't make that much difference...the job role is more
important in career decision making
usually have no non-compete.

why stocks shouldn't be counted? after all they would turn into cash in your
pocket.
sure, career path is important. but there are different ones on the street:
it, quant dev, quant researcher, trader.
for career path, bank it is even worse than sde in tech. quant dev is
similar to sde. quant researcher and trader have nothing to do with cs ph.d.

you are good enough.
just look at these profiles,one guy become PM as soon as he graduated from
CMU.

狗现在支付的待遇比银行工作好，而且工作稳定，没有压力，轻松，而且从长远来说，
也许是个更好的职业选择，对一般人来说。
但是，我觉得有一点很少有人讨论，就是一份工作，有两方面，一个是可以预期的收益
，一个是机会收益。论坛上的计算机高手，找工作容易的，都喜欢比较。 我看了很久
了，都是喜欢机会收益高，但是也要可预期收益高。我觉得这样的工作，除非老板是你
爸，不然可能性不大。鱼与熊掌不能都有。我看到过很多很优秀的人，都在这中间徘徊
，比如奥数金牌，常青藤博士等，最后，往往选择了狗狗之类的工作。
没有风险，哪有机会收益？做一份狗狗的工作，固然不错。在银行里做，我看到不少一
年上百万的年轻人，狗狗的工作只够支付他的州税的。年轻的时候，输得起，就要去承
担一些风险。输不起的人，也赢不到。 |
