Will the United States end up on the right side of history? No one can deny
that history is being made in Egypt, nor can anyone predict how this
uprising of rich and poor, Muslim and Christian, will end. While many
maintain that the United States must choose between its security interests -
- stability in Egypt and the region and its ideals of freedom, democracy,
and self-determination called for by the protesters -- we think this is a
false dichotomy.
It is in the United States' long-term security interest to align itself
firmly and unequivocally with the protesters. It is time to "walk the walk"
of Obama's Cairo speech of June 2009: "All people yearn for certain things:
the ability to speak your mind and have a say in how you are governed;
confidence in the rule of law and the equal administration of justice;
government that is transparent and doesn't steal from the people; the
freedom to live as you choose. Those are not just American ideas, they are
human rights, and that is why we will support them everywhere."

来就是亲美势力当政,有输的可能,有不输的可能,没有赢得可能。
