a****9 发帖数: 773 | 5 I searched it online and found that for permant license, you need to get
state license first.
To get NY state license, you need to finish PGY-1 first. But I am not sure
if there's any other requirement besides completion of PGY-1,such as CME
credits? license exams? etc....
And I am also not sure about the benefit of the license. But someone told me
that after liscened, you will be able to get more $$ and freedome. |

http://www.medscape.org/public/staterequirements

318 | 7 it is kind of useless unless you want to moonlight in a different hospital, then you have to get your own license.
While you are a resident, you might not want to use your own license because your hospital malpractice insurance probably won't cover it.
So be careful using it even if you have one.

hospital where you are going to moonlight.
But I do not suggest to moonlight. Residency life is stressful. Enjoy
the life first.

in New york, some do, some don't. and there is tail coverage you have to ask
,
so better do moonlighting in your own hospital.
- there was a guy in my program he did so much moonlighting, that he made a
lot of money and bought a Beamer. He drove that thing across america during
a
summer vacation. He was stopped by the cops 7 times but he got away each
time
cause he told the cops that he is a physician from new york and wanted to
have
some fun. later on he showed those photos on facebook, with him and 7
different state polices. It was a fun experience i think.

A*******s 发帖数: 9638 | 11 You know the funny thing is that people don't sue you if you don't have
insurance, especially the attorney learns you are a resident.
You could afford BMW as soon as you start residency because of easy loan. No
need for moonlighting.
AMGs have too much loans, so maybe some of them do that.

a****9 发帖数: 773 | 12 thank you all for so detailed answers.
What I heard is that when u work as a resident in your program, if you are
licensed, you will be payed more, though you are doing the same job as your
peer residents do. nothing extra.
also if you are licensed, transferring from one program to another would be
easier?
Are these facts or just rumor? |

senior.
