。 如果找不到paid summer associate，是不是就是一个loser啊？ 下面几个B计划，
各位大侠有何见解？ 在此鞠躬。
1. 暑假修课
2. 在小firm里面做unpaid的intern
3. 到大公司里面做in house。听说这样简历比较好看，真的么？
我以后打算在firm里面做，没有打算去in house。

1L summer.
2. Very few people could find SA positions in big law firms for their 1L
summer, especially in this economy.
3. Very few people could find in house positions because there are just not
many of them. |

Maybe he is a Harvard kid.
Start dialing up local judge's phone numbers. Start with Federal courts.
Once the reality sets in, working in a city juve court house for free may
not be such a bad thing. :-)

主要是因为有tech background。我知道1L暑期工作对于大部分人来说很难找，但是我
听说做IP的话，还是比较好找的。主要有点担心以后找工作，别人看怎么第一个暑假都没有job，光修课了呢。
请问你第一个暑假干什么了呢？

我说的loser是指以后找工作的时候employer会觉得你比较弱，是这个意思。

offer了，大部分都oversubscribed，因为没有料到经济突然crash了。 1L 基本不用考
虑big law firms

attorney都不是很有事情做，就别说summer associate了。
不过mofo好像IP队伍还在不断扩大呢，尽管裁了一部人，但都不是IP方向的。去面试的
时候那个partner使劲和我说MOFO就靠他们IP赚钱呢。

你有什么面试经验不？ 我觉得我面试还不错，不过有可能感觉是假的。

I got an on-campus job during my 1L summer.
Getting a summer job in your 1L is definitely a plus, but most firms would
not think you are a loser for not having one. They all understand it is HARD
to find a legal job as an 1L.

don't know what you mean by "getting a summer job." You have to do some
legal work during your 1L summer otherwise you are going to look really bad
in the eyes of firm recruiters.
It's not difficult to find a judicial intern position since there are plenty
of them and you are working for free.

Even if that is true for your school, I highly doubt that your school is representative of what happens in most law schools, e.g., the non-top 20 law schools. Your initial reply #1 is misleading because it seems to suggest that in most schools (or at lesat generally) the majority of law students are working for a judge during their 1L summer. It would send out a totally different message if at least you confined you reply #1 to "your school." I

楼主说以后打算去firm，那第二年怎么做judicial intern啊。绝大多数毕业后去firm
的，都是第二年暑期做summer asso以后拿到的offer，你第二年暑期不去firm，想毕业
以后去firm就很难了，因为作为3L interview的机会非常少，firm给3L的位子也有限，
这还都是往年的情况，更别说今年明年经济这么差了。
如果打算修课的话，前后有一段空挡还是可以做点事情的，比如说做judicial intern
，不过面试后期就要跟人家说清楚，所以要早做打算。 |
