POSITION:
Heat Transfer Engineer
COMPANY:
Our client is a leading international supplier and licensor of process
technology, catalysts, adsorbents, process plants, and consulting services
to the petroleum refining, petrochemical and gas processing industries.
LOCATION:
Des Plaines, IL
SCOPE:
This position is for an engineer who will work as a member with-in a team of
engineers who design our client’s licensed process units. The work is
principally associated with the preparation of heat exchanger specifications
. This position requires interfacing with external customers, contractors,
and various internal groups.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
• Ability to evaluate process and hydraulic data presented in bulk
form, generally without reference to an exchanger type.
• A working knowledge of the process unit and an understanding of
the significance of process data and of process data generation.
• Ability to evaluate selection criteria for various types of heat
transfer equipment including welded plate, shell & tube, air cooled, waste
heat boilers, electric heaters, double pipe, hairpin, multi-tube, and other
specialty heat exchanger technologies. Knowledge of cold box and other
cryogenic technologies would also be useful.
• Ability to evaluate designs of existing heat exchangers for
suitability for revamp conditions using computer design tools.
• Ability to interact with customers and vendors in the review of
equipment specifications, bid evaluations, design calculations and
fabrication drawing reviews.
• Assist in review and development of computer tools and
documentation to assist in the specification of heat transfer equipment.
• Eventual expansion of capabilities to the fired heater field is
anticipated; fired heater experience would be a plus.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• A BS degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering.
• A Minimum of three years of experience in the refining or
petrochemical industries, designing, operating, maintaining, or
manufacturing heat transfer equipment.
• Familiarity with UOP processes is a plus.
• Experience in use of heat exchanger computer tools such as HTRI,
HTFS, and/or Aspen B-JAC, etc.
• Working experience with HTRI software is strongly desired.
• Knowledge of applicable portions of TEMA, API, and ASME Section
VIII standards.
• The ability to effectively communicate with team members and
other engineering personnel is essential. |
