We don't have ISSS and our H&R knows little about immigration laws.
I'm now a postdoc and will be promoted to research assistant professor( in
process, not sure when it will get through).My H1b expires Aug 17 2011 and
my wife need to change from h1b to h4 this July. I was planning to ask HR to
file extension under postdoc title right now with premium.Our H&R told me
that in the near future, H1b amendment will be needed if I change job title.
I think the job duties are basically the same and my salary will increase
only about 20% to 30%.
Q1: Do I need H1b amendment or update? If yes, does that title change have
to happen after H1b amendment/update is approved?
Q2: If h1b amendment is filed, will my wife need to file I-539 again for new
H4 approval?
