发帖数: 3888 | 8 Huge success. I didn't want to pay for a software like Acronis True Image, so I used the freeware Clonezilla.
Used a USB flash drive to boot into Clonezilla, and used an external HDD to store the clone image. Copied the image back to the new, larger HDD.
Booted into new HDD. Windows loaded as normal, and everything looked the same way... including the partitions! New drive is about 200GB bigger, so there was 200GB of unused, unpartitioned space on new HDD.

I didn't know about piratebay...
The new HDD is 7200rpm... but the loading time for Windows has been cut more
than 1/2 over the old 5400rpm. Before the swap, when I loaded Windows, the
little waiting bar under the logo would go from left to right for 25 cycles.
Now it's only 8
PS I could have used the external HDD to boot into Clonezilla, but I didn't
want to format the external HDD to make it bootable because there are some
data on the external HDD that I
