a*******6 发帖数: 38 | | a*******6 发帖数: 38 | 2 Finally, I have sometimes to sit down and type this up. About two months
ago
, my dad and I went to NY to renew his Chinese passport since it’s
required
to submit it in person. I have heard friends who have successfully
renewed
their passports in the past from NY. I also have friends who live there
so
it would be a good choice to visit them while I was there. By the way, I
had
tried to call the consulate to ask questions before making the trip. No
one
answered the phone no matter when I made the calls. I decided to go
anyway
since my friend told me it can be done there from their past experience.
It
’s a major mistake. First, we waited for 2 hours just to get inside of
the
building. Once we were inside, we waited another one and a half of hours
to
get to the window. In the meantime, it’s totally chaotic. Our fellow
Chinese skipped the line and some people didn’t know what line they were
supposed to be in since it’s overcrowded. It was yelling and screaming
in
the building. When I got to the window, they looked at the form and the
passport. She told us we are in the wrong consulate. We have to go the
consulate in Texas. I said we came from a long way and is there a
possibility to let us submit it here since we are here now. She said no
and
would not talk to be anymore by calling the next person. It was no
service
or whatsoever. We ended up wasting 1k in NY (Flight+ other expenses).
Three weeks ago we headed to Houston and I made calls like the last time
but I got
the same result. Nobody answered it. I went to their website and tried
to
find the information but it’s not a good site and can’t find anything in
English version. It seems like they make it more difficult for people
who
are not very good at reading Chinese. Anyway, I made the trip like last
time
. I planned to stay overnight in Houston to make sure we get the things
done
. When we get there, the line was much shorter than NY. It’s a good
sign.
We waited it for 30 minutes. We finally talked to a female. She told me
the
photos are not acceptable. I said fine. We spend $20 at the consulate to
take anther set of photos. We get back to her second time, this time she
said we have to bring express mail envelope not the priority envelope I
brought. I said why I don’t need it urgently. She said “you don’t
question me” in Chinese. Basically, it means you don’t ask any
questions.
You do what I tell you to do. They take the way how Chinese government
operates in China and apply it in America. It does not work this way in
America. I don’t want to be in this terrible place any longer, so I went
to
the post office and pay $18.30 for express mail. When I come back to
her
the third time, she said she does not accept cash, credit card, debit
card
nor personal check. My internal fire is almost exploded. To make this
shorter, I went again to post office to get the money order. It took me
four
trips to get everything done. The females who work there are impolite,
unprofessional, and disrespectful. They seem to be nice to white
Americans.
It’s sad that they are discriminating their own people. It seems the
males
who work there are much nicer and helpful. I have been to dmv before,
but
the consulate makes the dmv 10 times worst. I am still upset over this.
I
have never been treated this way since day one when I move to America 15
years ago. Sorry about the long story. I feel like i need to let the
community know about this and not make the same mistake.

1679 | 11 //comfort
thanks for sharing.

161 | 12 I cannot stop myself to support you. Houston consulate is chaos. We went
last year and swore that never go again. We even almost missed our flight.
We did call to know the preparations beforehand as they change the policy
all the times. We left message and after 2 days, a guy replied my call.
Thus, we were so happy and went. The outcome was we waited outside the
consulate for 2 hours to get a 'number' which told us to be back in the
afternoon though all the US citizens were 'welcome' inside efficiently.
After entering, we thought we were well prepared but it was not. All the
informations given by the guy from consulate was wrong. First, the amount
of money order was wrong. Second, the envelop was wrong. You know, in that
chaos, it was so difficult to approach the windows again after leaving. Our
flight was at 5pm. Anyway, we just run like crazy with my pregnancy to
kroger to change the money order and post office ( the post officer said,
consulate again!). I really don't understand why they do not post out the
requirements point by point on the wall or URL....after finish, we need to
stand in another line again to pay. This time thx to all the chinese 可愛的
同胞,we beg them for let us cut the line coz we need to catch flight and
the ppl in the front just give a hand. I really appreciate him very much.
Nevertheless, our flight was delayed and canceled in silence and in final,
we left on the next day with delta compensation.
For Houston, we hate the consulate but in love with the restaurants.
