help? I under that Oracle has software side encryption, but it'll slow down
the server. Microsoft SQL has support but no really can do it. Any
suggestion on both software or hardware.

- SQL2005 has build-in encryption support
- sofiscated applications have column level encryption, enterprise level
role/security managment, encryption key managment etc.
most applications are software only, some applications have hardware
components.
price range from $10k ~ $50k per server, or per database, etc

found out the software side will take too much resource, but no very sure. I
search google and could not find much information.

nCipher, Protegrity, NetLib, Application Security are the other the products
I looked at briefly, software based.
Resource was not a concern when i was looking into this so I don't know
about that.
