Police: Chinese Officials Block Student Autopsies
2 U Of M Students Killed; 3 Injured In Crash
Michigan State Police say the Chinese government is blocking autopsies
of two University of Michigan students that were killed in a car crash
Saturday morning on Interstate 75.
Police said three other students in the car were seriously injured, but
are now in stable condition.

Troopers said the wreck occurred at about 9 a.m. Saturday.
Authorities said the female driver and a male front seat passenger were
dead when paramedics arrived.
The backseat passengers, two more women and a man, were seriously injured
and were rushed to St. Mary’s Hospital in Saginaw.
According to student IDs, one student was from Michigan State University
, and four others were from U of M.
Police said all of the students are Chinese nationals studying in the United
States.
Police said representatives from China are not allowing autopsies on the
two U of M students.
Police said they are unsure why the officials are blocking the autopsies
.
Police said they've received several phone calls from parents in China.
"I’m going to get a hold of the Chinese Consult and go through channels
to get the family notified, and the added logistics of contacting people
in Ann Arbor and fellow students. So, it's going to be a lengthy process
," said Trooper Paul Frechette, with Michigan State Police.
The crash is still being investigated but police said the driver was
distracted
, and text messaging may have been involved.
It’s unknown if the victims were wearing their seat belts.
Items inside the car indicated that the students were on their way to the
Upper Peninsula, police said. Inside the vehicle, troopers said they found
a map to Tahquamenon Falls State Park, attached to that map were hand
written directions to nearby hotels.
The crash caused traffic to be detoured for three hours while investigators
gathered evidence.
“Tire marks, and examination of the vehicle indicates that the vehicle
lost control, probably due to driver error and speed, the vehicle lost
control and went off the roadway, hitting a tree, likely causing the
fatalities
,” said Trooper Don Dutcher, a crash technician with Michigan State Police

说明就算是中国文化，保个全尸显然没有了解事故原因来得重要。
