1and1 and webhost4life. They all have their own advantages, as well as
disadvantages. Below is a brief comparison of their shared hosting (as of
November 2006 and to the best of my knowledge and experience).
GoDaddy
- Cheap ($6.99/M to get ASP.net)
- Big storage (100G for $6.99/M)
- Easy switch between Linux and Windows - No SQL Server 2005
- Limited database storage for SQL Server (only one database with 200MB)

good. At least when you talk to them, they know what they are going to do
and they understand what they are going to do.

I have quite some experience with the other two. they are good for different
purposes. godaddy is more stable than 1and1,and i like its dedicated IP,
while 1and1 offers much more features than godaddy.

general I liked their service, support is good. database management tools
are awesome.
worst thing about webhost4life is their servers are located in california,
where my visitors are located in east coast, so the speed of the site is
noticably slow like lagoona has mentioned in his original post.
best thing about webhost4life is the flexibility of database management, I
can backup file, re-store from a backup file easi |

haven't followed up it for a while because i am now using a virtual server
in my department (on a big Dell server, and I am the administrator, awsome!)
. Much better than any webhosting :-) Is there any improments on storage at

better, faster and more expensive plans.
just to be fair, I recently checked my godaddy basic hosting plan ($3.99),
and they now provide much better database management tools than before, you
can also backup and restore database files, which is great. so on that, only
advantage webhosting4life has now is the 2GB database storage, where
godaddy provides only 200MB. but for visitors from east coast, godaddy is
still faster.

godaddy is not faster all over, their servers are located in central us, so
the speed is ok from both coasts, but not great.
