miles, in good condition.
Can any of you recommend a place for maintainance other than dealers? I'm in
Austin, TX. Any national-wide reputable chain store that does maintainance,
or any place particular in TX?

vehicle overall and I decide to ditch dealers this time. I'm asking about
regular maintainance.
What type of place should i go to? Repair shop? Body shop? Can you guys give
me some general idea?

发帖数: 407 | 6 I will suggest to go to a local repair shop. You need to know a "good"
repair shop for owning an old used car if you are not a DIY guy. You should
try to get recommendation from your co-workers or neighbour to see where
they go if they have a problem.
Well... Those chain stores are usually over-priced in my point of view...
Last time, my car has some sound for the hood in certain weather (like a
belt being too tight.) I went to the M chain store next to my home. The guy
said it is a pulley. so I decided to change Cabin filter, oil change and the
pulley at the same time. I asked them to give me a call once they got the
price of the parts of the pulley... Well... They are trying to tell me those
3 things costing $700 because they cannot find the pulley to be sold alone
and need like 600 to change all pulleys in the the car ... I told them to
forget about it (They told me it is dangerous to drive a car like this etc
etc... ), and they call me again after a few minutes saying they will do it
for 300... (About 200 for the pulley, 100 for the cabin filter and oil
change.)
To me, that store may not be a SCAM... But they don't have a brain. Also,
while the labor fee are similar but they usually charge a lot of hours to do
some minor jobs. |

发帖数: 407 | 8 Yes... That's why I would never go back to that shop even they are next to
me. It wasn't exactly $100... Maybe $8x.xx or so... Close to $100.
My "Trustful" store was in New York like 20 miles away where I used to live.
I just want to try a "local" shop to see how they are that was near my new
how. Of course the result was disappointing.
