他其实很聪明
看看前段时间，为了groove的事大骂usga。不是乱码，而是着重强调bureaucratic，不
透明的官僚作风。基本就是扇了usga一巴掌。现在usga也开始考虑该规则时考虑球具商
和球员的意见了。ping能和usga达成协议，一定有类似的agreement在里面。
phil这个是典型的为了以后从政铺路。
不过phil本来就是在做自己，那么多铁杆球迷追随他那么多年，就是因为他的个性。
虽然打球比不过tiger，但基本绝对也是历史的前10，前5了。
tiger很可怜，选了一帮爱钱的经纪人团队。注定了要演戏。
要是tiger以后能改改，俺就不会老黑他了。他基本应该会超过熊老爷的。
Vankie，你不能不承认，phil在生活上的成功。
tiger由于被经纪人团队控制，很可怜。交友不可以多，一多就演不了戏了。所以只能
和巴克利，乔丹之流混。基本上不了上流社会啦。如果tiger会利用他现在的名气，他
的综合成就一定会更大。挺可惜的说。 |

i know it's a little confusing. i usually don't pay attention to these details
but now that you asked, i digged out some website and reviewed the details of
the USGA handicap index system.
the key not to confuse yourself is this:
USGA handicap index (ususally referred to as "handicap") is not the same as a
player's course handicap.
the formula is:
A player's course handicap = USGA handicap index * slope / 113
if my index is 10, yours is 16, how many strokes i give you totally depend |

state amateur championship; 有些州有传统的话可能有些赞助商赞助的,比如这个dix
ie，各个州amateur 前2名有机会参加全国的usga下的几个amatuer 比赛，这个算是最高
的，humu如果能打入那个级别，可能称得上全国的top 100业余选手了。
golf这玩意变化太大了，小时候不定大的时候好；现在好不定将来好；现在不好不定将
来不好，啥故事都有发生。

有USGA差点的一般都是业余高手，高尔夫俱乐部会员或者经常打球的人，估计差点分布
肯定要比整体打球的人低得多。
据说整体上只有10%左右的单差。 |

发帖数: 10701 | 13 usga统计出来的全国平均handicap，在过去的10年都没什么变化，所以，可以猜测下，
技术进步对业余选手的帮助，呵呵。
当时，对那些不计算handicap的，就是那些职业选手，现在的球场是越建越长，他们开
球的地方slope/rating那可是越来越大的数据，这些选手依然打出很好的成绩，他们是
从球具中得益最大的。
不知道我这个解释是不是make sense.
usga在过去的几年里，似乎就限制了2件事吧，如果我没记错的话，一是driver头的大
小，二是马上要实施的groove的形状。 有人提议说最需要regulate的是球。 |

This may gave you some idea about how difficult golf is
I think the percentage of low handicappers would be lower than what is shown
because
1. not all golfer has handicap index, I would assume the better golfers tend
to get one for themselves
2. scores are usually reported by players themselves. Do all of them play
strictly following the rule is questionable |

的球场打球，我的针对于具体球场的course handicap (不是course handicap index)
是不同的。USGA所用的是标准难度系数113(slope rating),如果我在难度系数为139的
球场打球，那么我的handicap就是8.4*139/112=10.33。如果我和一个scratch golfer
打差点比赛，那么他就会让给我10杆。
如果你的handicap是自己估算的，那么应该是course handicap。

USGA喜欢看着大家struggle，even par champ.
唯有tiger不怕，pebble beach那年 -12, 第二名是 +3 的els。说明course都还是很难
的。

get it wrong.
it means, i may pay one-year-membership fee for the rest 3 months of 2007.
also.. i still want to see the consistent performance. like the pro I met at
the circle c golf course, his score ranges from -2 to +3. that's the margin

other things in the world, there can be more than one correct answers to a
question.
look, we're not talking about pga or usga amatuer champion levels of golfers
, the good golfers, as i mentioned in my earlier posts, include all of those
with handiap index lower than a 5, i.e., a low single digit handicapper.
you go to any golf clubs, here in the states or in china, you will run into

发帖数: 10701 | 40 以前circle c(现在grey rock）举办的memeber-guest的比赛，我是Scotty推荐的去和
一个member以前打。
奖金额挺高，$1200第一名。
没打之前，那和我搭档的说多么多么有机会能赢，比如他觉得自己是7 handicap的水平
，但usga handiap 是12，什么的。
因为是算net score, 要把handicap算上的，所以他希望搭档一个相对来说好点的，这
样也许 能赢钱。
于是我就去了，Scotty说是free,后来我还是付了$200， 拿了盒titleist prov1的球，
再加上件衣服。
比赛格式是team match player, 第一天27个洞，每9洞来对抗一组对手，成绩是best
score of two players.
我那搭档还说，第一组遇见的可能是最好的对手，我们平了。我开始的很差，前2洞打
得乱七八糟，后面5洞到不错，birde, eagle -try， birdie， 等等。
第2组对手也行，只是从头到尾我们都是平的，所以又平了。
第3组开始之前， 我那搭档还说希望遇见个弱点的对手。我见到那2人后，看了其中一
人用 |

Haven't had the luxury to play at Pebble yet, but $125 for Spanish Bay is really
worth it. They even gave out $50 restaurant/merchandise coupon, so it is $
125 for Spanish Bay on a sunny warm winter day （not windy at all） plus a big lobster meal. That's fantastic for an average golfer like me. |
