发帖数: 1638 | 10 机种选择比较多，对我们来说，per node 200+G的内存是很有用的。
我们用AWS做计算（mapreduce），spot price我们经常觉得便宜得不够电费的感觉。一
台8核E2680+244G内存，算上hadoop不到6毛钱，如果自己装hadoop的话，才不到3毛。
我们IT说这个比我们买机子放在办公室的地板费（租金）都便宜。别的VPS的hadoop支
持暂时（起码去年）都有比较大的问题。
而且AWS不太需要admin，出了事情重启系统就行了（只要你的script写好）。
AWS便宜。主要是指的机子本身，流量不便宜。
如果你就是做网站或者服务器流量托管，AWS不便宜。如果在托管这个环节，你如果本
来就不打算做DR，AWS确实不便宜吧。但是我们自己都不用ADMIN，AWS是更面向程序员
的。
easy to deploy是说他们有API和commandline，你可以很容易就写脚本来定制你的需求
。比如一个command启动一组hadoop上面加跑hbase和spark。别的VPS好像没有这个东西。

不过aws本身越做越成熟了，很多多年前的毛病现在都改进了，api做得一级棒
reliability也越来越高了，在aws上放你的网站，别一心指望他们不给你丢数据，多
replicate一下，基本上还是很靠谱的
唯一缺点就是贵，死贵死贵的
我们从aws往local迁移一些非prod数据，完全是self pay的，因为local买最最先进的
硬件，因为在aws省出来的钱已经self pay了
aws主要相培养新一代的devop,sysop，从第一天开始就不知道机器硬件啥样，只知道如
何在aws上操作，这样他们的生态就成熟了
最近几年哥颇遇到一些自称10年经验的devop, sys engineer, sys architect，从来没
见过data center啥样子 |

发帖数: 1638 | 13 你如果用AWS的ELB，就不需要自己做loadbalacer，会比较便宜（因为等于这台机子会
被复用）。
我不太懂别的VPS怎么样，AWS的好处是，你如果做了一遍，第二遍就很简单，基本上都
是脚本自动的。搞AWS就是各种研究脚本和AMI或者bootstrap的过程。
AWS给程序员非常大的可能性，很多VPS估计做不到。
另外AWS还有个好处就是伸缩性强，可以根据流量自动启动或者关闭机子，如果你的应
用是无状态的（或者不是强状态的），spot instance可以给你省很多钱。
比如我的程序会自动连AWS，看看有没有正在跑的cluster，如果有cluster而且没有
pending的job，就提交。如果pending的太多，就起个新的，跑完自动关掉。从计算角
度，很节约，不过我确实觉得AWS流量不便宜是真的。
BTW：为啥用mongodb？这种只能处理不大不小的数据量的玩意。同时上mongodb和redis
听起来很诡异，是我out了？这种设计是不是很自虐啊？ |

想进一步做些有用的项目玩玩。AWS services 好多，但每年都有新的出来。学不过来
的。
哪些 AWS services 比较有意思， 有前途？
例如是不是可以用 aws lambda function, AWS EMR, + spark 什么的捣鼓些大数据项
目？
是不是可以用 aws lambda function, cloud watch 捣鼓些 监控系统的项目？
lambda function，EMR 是不是特有用，值得好好学学？还有其它services 值得学么？

helpful enough. Use your spare time and your free AWS account to get
familiarized with AWS (not your daily works working on a small part of it).

这话从何讲起？
AZURE不管是运行速度，效率，和每年的DOWN TIME都比AWS差太远了。主要原因是微软
没有任何做在线服务的经验。WINDOWS系统也不是为虚拟机做的架构。除非WINDOWS系统
大改，AZURE不可能追上AWS的。
AWS上还有很多很强的CLOUD APP，非常好用。这就像一个生态系统，越多的好应用，吸
引越多企业来。越多企业来，成本就越低，AWS就可以进一步压价。
AZURE唯一还能活下去的原因是很多500强企业有跟微软签20年的长约，所以使用AZURE
的话，都是WINDOWS系统更加兼容，但是他们都是一边用AZURE一边骂微软的那种。
AZURE这种稀烂的东西，居然还比AWS贵，2013年才刚降价到跟AWS一个价，简直就是笑

库是空的，莫名其妙。这个帐号已经发生这种事情2次了，数据库莫名其妙突然就全空
了。
还有，用aws做web services,你要搞个https吧。这个ssl certificate,很麻烦。有人
从godaddy买个ssl certificate用，但是，aws不给你的网站提供独立的ip address。
如果用android,iphone access你的aws网站，你的ssl certificate可能被android,
iphone给认证失败，说这个ssl certificate是godaddy的某个域名的certificate,不是
aws的你的url的certificate.非常麻烦。
如果是正规的软件公司，还是自己搞2层防火墙吧，aws上面debug非常麻烦，log文件很
多时候都不靠谱。

（Data Center扫地的那些不算，那些是O(N))
像AWS这种规模，人力开销肯定比别人都小。
我算钱只是一个对比。EC2基本上是三个月把硬件买一遍，
API调用基本上也是几个月把对应性能的硬件买一遍。
开发和维护API gateway的投入显然要比EC2小。
如果这个API用的人多，它的profit margin就能提高。
AWS究竟花多少钱的人力我也不知道。都是跟别的公司对比看的。
跑同样的运算，如果自己买机器，可能3-5年才给Intel等硬件公司交一次钱。
用AWS，3-5个月就得给Amazon交同样多的钱。即使算自己买机器闲置容量比
AWS多三倍，相当与1-2年给Intel交一次钱，Amazon来钱也要快得多。
AWS还有个办法就是给你一个超复杂的pricing-performance model，
让你根本搞不清该付多少钱，比如CPU性能，内存大小，磁盘吞吐量，
都是按performance收费的，而不是按实际用量收费的。要算清楚这些
开销并不容易。算不清楚的话就得多掏钱。

，用EC2意义不大，论单机性能随便哪家都秒杀它。AWS那一套使用上没什么神的，就是
暴兵策略，有脑无脑无所谓，只要有钱就可以上，适合大众
自己玩可以开个linode、digitalocean什么的，或者租台volumedrive的单机，比EC2爽
不知多少倍。当然如果你还要用AWS别的服务，看流量，用AWS全套也许会便宜些
startup往AWS上走是前几年的热点了，最近趋势是又往in-house发展，AWS只用来做单
纯的compute或者storage（不是database）

development process any different. I would say same as deploying to other
servers?
If your AWS image is from local server, how would you do test on your local
server, it should be the same. Or you can install AWS image on your local
server to do test, if you don't make your AWS image from scratch. |

第一，在不少地方跟人聊天，很多公司现在都选择用aws了，我们也开始往aws上搬项目
第二，现在热门的开源project，从incubator阶段就开始做aws的集成，简单很多
第三，用了几个cloud平台，g和r的，都一般般，都很难用，这样那样的问题，文档很差
第四，对比价格后，aws比g的要便宜上一倍都不只，三年折扣算下来，g的费用是a的三倍
打算先找界面美工把界面做出来，然后开一个small的帐号，反正也不贵，一年用不到
100刀
第一年慢慢折腾着玩 |

发帖数: 115 | 42 从我自己的经验来看，AWS比较适合刚创业的技术公司，特别是以提供服务为主的。当
公司快速成长的时候，AWS可以有很简单的升级办法（不只是单纯的加CPU和Memory）。
主要表现在Firewall，loadbalance，ssl，autoscaling,RDS
的实现与维护，如果不是公司的核心业务，但又必不可少的时候，还是能从AWS中获得
不少好处的。
单纯的比CPU，Disk IO，价格，AWS确实没什么优势。

发帖数: 1638 | 43 我个人觉得AWS不适合做游戏服务器，从cost的角度来说。不过你可以算一下reserved
instance的price。
它就是比较没有啥up front cost。但是这点所有的VPS都一样。
你如果就是要个托管服务器和数据库，可以看看别的。AWS没啥优惠，很多别的地方都
有给startup的优惠。
不过AWS的support是真的好，那帮人基本给人感觉还是很hands on，很解决问题。
AWS对我吸引力最大的是on spot instance，便宜得发指啊 |

先搞AZURE，然后再搞AWS,
先喷AWS
但是UI方面就是AWS鼠标流操作比较麻烦，
有些小细节也没做好，也有可能我没看完文档。
#1 如果一百万个objects，通过API抓具体count，
那坑爹的要用loop把一百万个objects都抓一遍，自己做加法。
#2 folder名字取了就不能改了，尼玛。。。
#3 UI里面没有select all功能
#4 都是s3里面的文件，move1 万个文件(90M)从一个folder到另一个folder，
居然弄了5个小时还没结束。
#5 啥都要收钱，monitor也要收钱
AZURE
UI友好，但是怎么都感觉有点lag。
每天下午5，6点，那尼玛那server lag的，比godaddy都不如。
我先写着点，抛砖引玉，各位大神多多批判添加。 |
