跟老公（无孩，即将要try）即将relocate到德州，公司在Austin和San Antonio都有
office，HR说可以自己选择上班地点。我们打算先租个single family 6个月到一年，
然后再考虑买房。
将来买房的话，我们考虑在Austin买，只是现在过去租房，纠结到底选择租哪里呢？虽
然两个城市都有office可以工作，但是因为公司总部在San Antonio, 所以过去还得至
少一两个月的training, 如果在Austin租房，需要先忍受一两个月双城通勤。
考虑到两个城市的生活舒适度，以及租房子的价格，房源是否充足，我们到底选择住在
哪里啊？
租房预算$1500~$2000，如果选择Austin的话，哪个区比较舒适、安全？选择San
Antonio呢？
俺们一直住在东岸，对德州还不了解，跪求版上德州的朋友给点建议啊！~~~

发帖数: 29 | 5 Austin附近风景的确不错，Bastrop那边很漂亮，我们有时回去camping,不过traffic比
较差。中国家庭其实每家也不尽相同吧，有些人就喜欢待在中国人多的地方，那
houston肯定比San Antonio好多了，不过有些人待哪里无所谓，喜欢体验不同的生活，
也不一定非要顿顿吃中国菜，San antonio也不见得就不是一个选择。
其实我发这个帖子不是要争San Antonio比Austin,houson, dallas好，更不是要说San
Antonio是texas最适合居住的城市，估计这个班上大多数人都觉得Houston, dallas最
适合中国人。只是据我所知介绍一下San Antonio而已，让一些有机会过来工作的了解
一下这个城市而已

下面说San Antonio了，按说San Antonio最著名的就是Sea World了，不过因为偶去过
San Diego的了，这次就不去了。我们去了The Alamo和River walk。这两个地方很近，
都在downtown.

。The Alamo是西班牙人建立的一个小军事据点。西班牙统治结束之后，德州归墨西哥
，墨西哥政府鼓励大量移民进入德州开垦土地。后来墨西哥出来了个独裁者，Santa
Anna, 德州人不干了，要求独立。Santa Anna就带领军队过来修理德州人。当时墨西哥
是这个大陆的第一军事强国，德州人开始不是对手。在Alamo的人几乎死光了，但是坚

最近去了一趟San Antonio，趁着热乎劲还没过，把收集到的资料简单总结一下，供大
家参考。
San Antonio River最早被当地土著印地安人称为“Yanaguana”，意为“清冽的水流”
，它孕育了得克萨斯中南部最早的土著居民及其文明。1691年6月13日，当天正是圣安
东尼奥纪念日（安东尼是葡萄牙著名传教士），西班牙殖民地――墨西哥之首任总督
Domingo Terán de los Ríos路过此河，将之命名为San Antonio River。
圣安东尼奥河两岸在18、19世纪得到大力开发，两岸人口不断增长，原始生态被破坏。
20世纪初，圣安东尼奥河不时发生洪水泛滥。1921年一场洪水袭击了圣安东奥城，50人
因此丧生。河流治理问题引起广泛关注。
1924年，一位名叫Robert Harvey Harold Hugman 的圣安东尼奥人带着他的新娘移居到

的。学校给的搬家费只有5000刀，但搬家需要远超5000。
比如下面开学要交什么课，什么时候和如何招新生这类的全然不知啊，连自己的个人网
站还没有呢。是不是如何start要问系头啊？现在开始招生已经晚了吧，都快开学了。

发帖数: 29 | 15 这个版上说San Antonio的少主要还是这里的学生少吧，这边中国人很多都是工作的，
还有很多台湾香港的移民，估计来泡bbs的很少，象我这种千年潜水员估计也不少，在
San Antonio也住了差不多3年了，看时不时有人问San Antonio的情况，说些感想希望
对想搬过来的有些帮助
衣：shopping很方便，毕竟也是大城市，什么saks, neiman marcus都有，macy's,
dillards各种mall遍地都是，还有一个特大的outlet在附近，不用担心shopping的问题
食：吃中国菜不方便，据我所知就2个中国店，中国餐馆倒是也不少，不过地道的不多
，广东粤菜早茶还行，北方菜没有，湖南，四川菜馆好像也没有。除了中国菜别的餐馆
倒是挺多，如果是非中国菜不吃，家里又不能做的，在这边就会很难受了
住：房子相对便宜，就考虑住着舒服的话，35万可以买个很不错的house了，
这边最好的区是Alamo Height,在downtown,没有1 million也别想了，不过都是老房子
了。剩下的就是北边区好，南北在HW410和HW1604之间,东西在I10和281之前这一块是 |

人推荐一下San Antonio比较好的TEX-MEX的饭馆。
中午倾向于吃得简单一点，最好是本地人光顾的有好的lunch special的馆子，位置不
限。
晚餐最好是在river walk临河的餐馆，希望气氛好、有特色、价格合理。
另外请教市中心旅游点附近停车方便吗？

san marcos开始逛街，逛够了回休斯顿，这样可行吗？感恩节大白天是不是城市会很冷
清，没什么东西看？之前看版上有人说感恩节后河边会有装饰灯，周四晚上能看到吗？
另一个方案是周四白天睡觉，晚上十点先直接到san marcons，到周五白天逛完了去san
antonio，晚上回休斯顿，这样会好些吗？

San Antonio最好的学区之一。Trinity对面穿过281是Incarnate World University,旁
边是HEB在San Antonio的总店，叫做Central Market，里面有很新鲜的蔬菜和肉类，海
鲜，葡萄酒之类的。再往北一点就是The Quarry Market，里面有电影院和Whole Foods
。再往北一点就是机场和The North Star Mall。所以这一带靠近学校的房子还是比较
贵的，如果commute没问题的话可以住到北边一些的地方，也便宜点 |

糕，两边跑不值得。等到确定下来在Austin了，再在Austin租房买房。如果从居住环境

因为喜欢玩枪，对德州军区的很多打靶打猎的活动一直有些向往，枪版的兄弟都知道芝
加哥限枪的程度。最近换工作，发简历的时候顺便往德州发了一些，结果这星期真有一
家在San Antonio的公司电话Interview了一下，效果还不错，现在他们要出旅费让我下
星期飞去San Antonio做On Site面试。我从来没去过德州，不知道在San Antonio这个
城市生活怎么样？平均房价多少？中国人社区如何？
我单身一个，现在也是租房，和有家有口的比搬家不算太麻烦。目前在芝加哥本地的几

上次跳了San Antonio 附近的风景大坑, 这次来看看这城市的国宝级历史文物,也是德
州不多的国家级公园之一 - San Antonio Missions National Historical Park, 由4
个大约在18世纪建成的mission组成. 离著名的Alamo大概7-8 miles. 在美国这个只有
200多年历史的国家, 这个可称的上是响当当的国宝级历史遗迹.
具体的历史由来, Wiki上很详细, 不多说了, 大家看图.
Alamo, 相当于中国的黄花岗烈士纪念碑.
反映当年先烈前赴后继抵抗西班牙侵略者 (不过当年好像闹的是德独)
从Alamo往南开,先看到的是这个Mission Concepcion

招租。整套房子约130平米，卧室客厅都很大，储物空间很多，全明格局，采光充沛，
客厅超大带独立小阳台，格局超好，两室隔音效果非常好。房间在公寓最里端，远离马
路，独立安静。
待租房间带一个 walk in 超大衣橱，独立空间及独立明亮卫生间；家具齐全，可拎包
入住。12月13日起租，长短租都可以，欢迎男女生（男生要1月20号后才能入住），安
静易相处。
租金 $1450/月，月付，押金 $1450，有停车位。
二、周边配套
近 San Antonio Shopping Center，马路对面就是 Target，步行3-5分钟可到 Milk
Pail Market（蔬菜水果超便宜）、Walmart、Safeways、Walgreens、CVS、Trader Joe
's、Whole Food等超市，周边还有中餐馆、杂货店、24 Hour Fitness、各大电信服务

去过SEAWORLD的都知道是怎么一回事了吧，门票不打折是64， 这个促销是直接打印出
来当门票用 10岁以上, 只能用在得克萨斯圣安东尼奥的SEAWORLD, 不可以用在圣迭
戈和佛罗里达！
